I'm a computer science professor at the University of Utah, where my work web site lives. I have a blog. Outside of work, my life revolves around my wife Sarah and our sons:
Although we've lived in Utah since 2000, my childhood was characterized by frequent moves. I've lived in Champaign Illinois, Kalamazoo Michigan, Springfield South Dakota, Newark Delaware, Manhattan Kansas, Settat Morocco, and Charlottesville Virginia. Additionally, I spent a couple of summers in the Seattle area, one in the LA area, and one in Nancy France. We had a great sabbatical year in Paris during 2015 and 2016.
My brother Eric does polar bear research for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. He is based in Anchorage but spends a lot of time doing field work in the arctic. Here's an article describing his work. Our parents are retired from regular jobs and run a farm near Riley, KS.
